The Christian life is not easy. It never was. Believers who lived in the city of Colosse during the first century did not find it easy. Persecution and prejudice threatened their existence. In a pagan city they felt vulnerable and exposed to false teachers who sought to waylay them from the simplicity of the of the Gospel and the sufficiency of Jesus Christ.
From a prison cell, that Apostle Paul wrote a letter to encourage them to let Christ live out His life in them, in their homes, in the community and marketplaces of Colosse.
Perhaps we too fell assailed by misunderstandings, criticism and prejudices. Maybe out faith is on trial. What was good for the Colossians in their hard times may be just the word for us today.
