The Ten Commandments were Words From the Fire that provided Israel with the basic foundation of their societal, civil, and religious life. They were studied, memorized, pondered upon, recited, and lived. These same commandments are for us. Do we still realize that these remain God's commands and that only in living them can we sustain a stable society and faithful living? In our society, prone to selfishness, the commandments call us to live selflessly; to sacrifice our own desires, and to treat our neighbor gently and with love. How do you love your neighbor? Obey God's commands. Will we take the time to teach, learn, meditate upon, recite, and live the commands? Our choice makes all the difference.
