The teachings that come out of an exposition of Genesis 6-9 are foundational to understanding much of redemptive history in the rest of the Bible. Righteous Noah becomes a type of Christ through whom God makes a covenant of redemption. By faith he built an ark, condemning the world and having victory over it. The day of the Flood is a prototype of the day of the coming of the Lord, with a separation of the righteous and the wicked. God's giving of the covenant sign of the rainbow gives us assurance and comfort of a staying of his judgment while he patiently waits for our repentance before the final judgment. So out of a holocaust God provides hope.
