Converted at age 13, Ironside began to preach shortly thereafter and continued to pursue God's calling for the rest of his life. Ironside not only became a highly sought after preacher and classroom teacher, but his years of dedicated study also produced a series of highly regarding Bible commentaries.
It was with no definite purpose of writing a series of Notes on the Minor Prophets as a whole, that Ironside first began to take up various books of the twelve, in monthly installments in HELP AND FOOD FOR THE HOUSEHOLD of FAITH. But after penning some notes on Habakkuk, Jonah, and Obadiah, he found his own soul helped, and an interest developed in the further study of these much-neglected portions of Scriptures, and so he took up to studying Hosea and the rest of the Minor Prophets.
In this volume the author has sought to press the practical application of the Prophets as giving important teaching for a remnant people in a day of decline, while not neglecting their dispensational bearing. This, he is persuaded, is what is greatly needed at the present moment. Harry Ironside writes in the preface of this book “If God be pleased to use the Notes for the stirring of His people's consciences and the comfort of their hearts, the desired end will be realized.”
