Andrew Bonar - The Good Pastor by Margory Bonar and published by Classics.

This biography tells the story of the great Scottish preacher and author who “spoke to the hearts of his hearers - simply and directly, not thinking of how to please them, but delivering a message from the Lord.” It retells the life of this Scottish preacher and author who was a great friend of Robert Murray M’Cheyne and wrote his memoirs. The book itself is written to show the life and character of the man not to show he was perfect but that his greatest desire was to live a life which was holy and pleasing to the Lord. After short ministries in Jedburgh and Edinburgh Bonar was ordained at Collace, Perthshire and remained there after the “Disruption” preaching in a tent until a Free Church was built. In 1856 he started a new Free Church at Finnieston, Glasgow, exercising an excellent ministry until his death. This biography which is edited by Bonar’s own daughter, Marjory.
