This book first published in 1922 is a series of 18 different meditations on the 23rd Psalm, and these focus on the Shepherd and how he leads; the restoration and guidance which we receive from shepherd; how he guide us through the valley as well as the significance of the full table, and the goodness and mercy of this Shepherd.
David, being the author of this Psalm has had his share of trial and trouble-deep, poignant, tragic. But through all the changes of his career he had found that God protected him and provided for him. He had found God's kindness and love never failed. And it is on the character of God as he had discovered it in his own experience that he bases himself when he gives utterance to this mighty optimism. ‘Surely Goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life.’
