1 & 2 Thessalonians IVPNTC, Hardback Edition by G K Beale and published by IVP Books.
In this volume, 1-2 Thessalonians G.K. Beale, professor of NT at Wheaton College takes us into Paul's epistle to the young church at Thessalonica. The church, having taken root during Paul's brief stay there during his missionary travels, often pondered when the return of Christ would occur. Paul, in order to instruct them more fully, wrote them two letters, which taken together illuminate "already-and-not-yet" character of Paul's eschatology (doctrine of the end times), that served then as a much needed corrective to erroneous end-times teaching that often was rampant.
The church faces this same problem today, and thus 1-2 Thessalonians are a much needed resource for Christians today. Beale's analysis shows how Paul's teaching to the Thessalonians then, should correct our views and expectations of the end times, among many other items, today. Throughout this commentary, G. K. Beale explains what each letter meant to its original hearers and its application for us today.
