As an evangelical missionary in Italy for over thirty years, I have found that there are certain things that Roman Catholics would like to know about the faith of the Protestants and about the Bible. Moreover, they want clear, unevasive answers. The ecumenical movement in their own church has made it more imortant than ever for them to have this information. If you are a Roman Catholic, read on. You will find some of the answers surprising. You will want to take your own Bible and check them for yourself from God's word. As you do, if you will start reading several verses before those that I refer to, and then read several verses after as well, it will help you understand the context so you can see for yourself that I am using them honestly. You will also get more out of the Bible itself, and the study will be a benefit to your spiritual life as well as providing information you really wanted to know.
The Bible passages which are quoted in this booklet are not taken from any Protestant edition of the Bible, but from the Roman Catholic Bible, The New American Bible, translated by members of the Catholic Biblical Association of America and fully approved by the Roman Catholic Church.
