“Where do you live?”, asks the author, “not geographically but morally - is it on the plane of the natural or spiritual. Most people live on the natural, hence the reason for the sameness and monotony of life. All around are people, jaded and worn and well nigh in despair because they will continue to live within the confines of their own reason and they know nothing of the joys of revelation. On the natural plane we may seem to be very busy working for God, however it is only on the spiritual plane that we can work with God and enjoy God.
When we consider the “Exceeding greatness of His power towards us who believe” - and the appalling ineffectiveness of much of our modern Christianity, one is driven to the conclusion that much of the “believing” is very much on the surface; it is not the grand old quality of believing into Christ and out of sin. That is the aim of this book - that believers will no longer live or desire the natural but yearn for the spiritual and an in depth relationship with the Living God.
