Here is a book that is of vital interest to every Christian, and to all who desire to know what a Christian is. J Sidlow Baxter in the Foreword says “If I were inspecting shelves of religious books, a title like “New Testament Christians” would attract me at once. I hope it will attract me at once, also, who will find in this book a pleasure and profit like that of my own in reading this book.
The title of the book has an intended ambiguity. By “New Testament Christian” it can does mean as they ought to be according to the New Testament standards as they used to be in the days of the New Testament and the contents of this book are enhanced by clear method, lucid expression and a faithful adherence of the New Testament.
Finally the purpose is that by a setting forth of the Christian life according to New Testament pictures and standards, there might be sounded a recall to the vital Christian experience of the first days. Such a recall a certainly needed today; and books like this can effectively contribute towards that end. May Robert Clarke’s “New Testament Christians” go forth “conquering and to conquer.”
