Since the Communists took control of mainland China there have been few accounts of the church's work behind the Bamboo Curtain. The author of this book, was himself forced to leave his homeland. Work among the children has always been of primary importance to Andrew Gih, and in the first part of the book, he describes some of his experiences and those of his helpers in shepherding the helpless sheep into safety from the bombs and the invading armies. In the book he also defines what Communism is, how the Lord has opened the door to the Gospel in mainland China and how the church functions under this oppressive regime.
