The Book of Genesis is possibly the most important book in the Bible. It tells of the beginning of all things and is therefore basic to truths set forth in later books. Every Christian should spend time in studying it and fixing its message in his or her mind and heart. This small volume is intended to aid the Bible student in doing this.
It is not a substitute for the Bible itself, but only a help and a guide as one reads the Genesis account for himself. It is not intended either to be a detailed or a technical commentary for the advanced Bible student. In simple terms it relates the stories of the book together, explains portions that are more difficult to understand, and shows how archaeological research has provided considerable information as background for numerous portions.
