Moldova is one of the old ‘Soviet bloc’ countries about which little is known in the West even today. These pages talk of a Saviour determined to save those shut away in closed institutions in Moldova, and of the effects of revival in Romania and Moldova in recent years. They speak of a God who still uses the puniest of instruments to demonstrate His power and glory.
Converted at the age of 17 through reading the Bible, Maureen Wise was soon given a burden to pray for Communist countries in Eastern Europe. Having trained as a social worker, she visited a number of those countries prior to 1989 and then went to work in Romania soon after the Revolution and subsequently in Moldova. Many of her students in Romania were literally children of a recent revival. A spiritual awakening in Moldova was also the background to her work in that country where she and her friends witnessed the power of God to save, to bless and to provide.
