Paul's Joy in Christ: The Epistle to the Colossians by A T Robertson and published by Classics.
Colossians has a lasting value for Christians from every generation because within the letter Paul, confronted with a view of religion and religious practices contrary to true Christian understanding of reality, is forced to deal with the absolute pre-eminence of Jesus Christ and with the permanent value of the Christian faith. No one is really sure what were the features of the Colossian heresy but there seems to be a mixture of pagan and Jewish elements.
Paul appeals to the Colossians' experience of salvation and to their reason and understanding. He assures them that in Christ are to be found all the treasures and wisdom of God and that in Him all things are held together.
